The key points (plain-language summary — not legally operative)

  • A Deal Pass is proof of eligibility — not money. It shows that you took part in a Deal, qualified for the group price, and may redeem that price once, in person.
  • It has no monetary value. It is not a payment method, prepaid or stored value, a gift card, store credit, a coupon balance, or proof that Candyll received any funds. It cannot be loaded, topped up, cashed out, withdrawn, transferred, or sold.
  • You pay the Merchant directly, at the store. When you redeem, you buy from the Merchant and pay the Merchant using the Merchant's own payment methods. The Merchant issues your receipt and handles tax, refunds, and exchanges.
  • Scanning never uses your Deal Pass. Scanning the store's Candyll QR code only opens a short usage session. Your Deal Pass is used only when you press "Use Deal Pass" — one deliberate, one-time step. If the session expires first, your Deal Pass is untouched and stays available.
  • One person, one use, one window. A Deal Pass is issued to you only, is valid for a single Redemption, and expires at the end of its Redemption Window.
  • The Merchant must honour a valid Deal Pass. While your Deal Pass is valid and unredeemed within its window, the Merchant must honour the Final Locked Price for the described Deal.
  • Missing your window costs nothing. If you do not redeem in time, the Deal Pass simply expires unused. There is no charge and no penalty, because you never paid Candyll.
  • A Deal Pass is not a BPCPA prepaid purchase card. It is not a prepaid card and does not fall within prepaid-purchase-card rules, because it is never sold to you, carries no money, and represents no funds.

1. What these Terms cover; how they fit together

1.1 These Deal Pass Terms describe what a Candyll Deal Pass is, when it is issued, how you redeem it, and what it is and is not. They form part of the Candyll Terms of Service (the "Terms of Service") and use the same defined terms, in Title Case, with the same meanings. If these Deal Pass Terms and the Terms of Service ever conflict on the specific topic of Deal Passes, these Deal Pass Terms prevail on that topic; on everything else, the Terms of Service govern.

1.2 Defined terms. The following terms are used here exactly as they are defined in the Terms of Service:

  • "Pledge" — your free commitment to take part in a Group Deal (made by "Joining"). A Pledge is not a payment and not a purchase.
  • "Final Confirmation" — the second, explicit step in which you confirm you still intend to redeem, so that you count toward the group price threshold. Only Customers who complete Final Confirmation count toward the group price.
  • "Final Confirmed Participant" — a Customer who has completed Final Confirmation for a Group Deal.
  • "Final Price Lock" (or "Final Group Price Lock"; the moment a Deal "unlocks" — "Unlock" means the same event) — the point at which a Group Deal reaches its required number of Final Confirmed Participants by the deadline and the group price is locked. Unlock activates your access to the Merchant's group-price offer — it fixes the Final Locked Price, issues Deal Passes and, for an appointment Deal, opens the Merchant's published live availability to you. It is never Candyll guaranteeing that the Merchant will perform.
  • "Final Locked Price" — the per-participant group price fixed at Final Price Lock, which the Merchant must honour for a valid Deal Pass at Redemption.
  • "Deal Pass" — the eligibility credential this document governs, issued to a Final Confirmed Participant only after Final Price Lock.
  • "Redemption" (to "redeem") — using a valid Deal Pass in person at the Merchant, where the Platform verifies your eligibility and you then pay the Merchant directly at the Final Locked Price.
  • "Redemption Window" — the period stated on a Deal during which a Deal Pass may be redeemed; a Deal Pass expires at the end of its Redemption Window.
  • "pay-at-store" — the model on which the entire Platform operates: the underlying purchase is paid by the Customer directly to the Merchant, normally in person at the store. Candyll processes no payment for any Deal.
  • "Merchant", "Customer" (or "you"), "Deal", "Group Deal", and "Platform" — as defined in the Terms of Service.

2. What a Deal Pass is

2.1 A Candyll Deal Pass is a proof of eligibility only. It shows three things, and nothing more:

  1. Participation and final eligibility — that you took part in a Deal and qualified for it as a Final Confirmed Participant;
  2. The Final Locked Price — the final locked group price that applies to you for that Deal; and
  3. A one-time Redemption right — a single right to have that Final Locked Price honoured when you redeem it in person at the Merchant.

2.2 A Deal Pass is issued to you only after the Deal reaches Final Price Lock (Section 4). It is created and held in your Candyll account.

2.3 Your Deal Pass is also where your records live. The Deal Pass shows the Deal, the Merchant, the Final Locked Price, and the Redemption Window, and — where the Deal is an appointment (a Slot Booking) — it is where you open the durable copy of your booking contract: the immutable snapshot of the terms you were shown and accepted before you confirmed, available to you in the app and on the website to read, print, and download (Slot Booking Terms, Section 3; Terms of Service, Sections 14.4 and 15.5). Candyll does not depend on email to give you these records, and a push or in-app notification about your Deal Pass is only an alert — never the record itself. If you turn notifications off, the record is still in the app.

3. What a Deal Pass is NOT

3.1 A Deal Pass is not money and carries no monetary value. In particular, a Deal Pass is not, and must never be treated or described as:

  • money, currency, or cash;
  • a payment method or a means of paying anyone;
  • prepaid value, stored value, or a stored balance;
  • a gift card, gift certificate, or e-gift;
  • store credit, account credit, or a coupon balance;
  • a wallet or any loadable balance;
  • a guarantee of payment to the Merchant; or
  • proof, in any form, that Candyll has received, holds, or will pay any purchase funds.

3.2 Because a Deal Pass carries no money, it cannot be loaded, topped up, added to, redeemed or exchanged for cash, withdrawn, refunded, transferred, assigned, sold, gifted, split, or combined with another Deal Pass. It does not accrue, store, or represent any balance, and it does not represent any amount that Candyll holds for you or for the Merchant.

3.3 Candyll processes no payment for the underlying purchase. Consistent with the Terms of Service, Candyll never charges you, never authorizes or captures a payment, never holds a deposit or hold, and never takes custody of or transfers your funds. A Deal Pass does not change this — it is only a credential that verifies your eligibility for the Final Locked Price.

3.4 Not a BPCPA prepaid purchase card / outside prepaid-card rules. A Deal Pass is not a prepaid purchase card and is intended to fall outside the prepaid-purchase-card regime under British Columbia's Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act and its regulations. This is because a Deal Pass is never sold or issued to you in exchange for payment, carries no monetary or stored value, is not redeemable for money, and represents no prepaid funds — it is solely an eligibility credential for a price you will pay the Merchant directly at the store.

4. When a Deal Pass is issued

4.1 A Deal Pass is issued to a Final Confirmed Participant only after Final Price Lock. It is never issued at Join (Pledge) and never issued at Final Confirmation on its own.

4.2 The sequence is: you Join (make a Pledge — free, not a payment); you complete Final Confirmation (so you count toward the group price); if enough Final Confirmed Participants are reached by the deadline, the Deal reaches Final Price Lock; and only then is a Deal Pass issued to you carrying the Final Locked Price.

4.3 If a Group Deal does not reach Final Price Lock, no Deal Pass is issued, nothing was ever charged, and there is nothing for you to do (see the Terms of Service, "Group Deals That Do Not Unlock").

4.4 Each Deal Pass records at least: the Deal it belongs to, the Customer it was issued to, the Final Locked Price and currency, the time it was issued, its Redemption Window (valid-from and valid-until), any reserved time or slot, and its status.

4.5 Waitlist claims. A Deal Pass may also be issued when you claim a released spot from a Deal's waitlist after Final Price Lock (see the Terms of Service). A waitlist claim issues a normal Deal Pass at the already-locked Final Locked Price: the claim is free, involves no payment, and never re-prices the Deal. A Deal Pass issued through a waitlist claim is identical to any other Deal Pass and is governed by these Deal Pass Terms in full.

5. You pay the Merchant directly (pay-at-store)

5.1 When you redeem a Deal Pass, you buy the goods or services directly from the Merchant and pay the Merchant at the store, using the Merchant's own payment methods. The Deal Pass entitles you to the Final Locked Price for that purchase; it does not pay for the purchase.

5.2 The Merchant is the seller. The Merchant issues your receipt and is solely responsible for the applicable taxes on the sale (including GST/HST and BC PST, as applicable), and for any refund, exchange, or product or service issue. Candyll issues no receipt, collects and remits no tax on your purchase, and processes no refund for your purchase (see the Terms of Service).

5.3 Candyll does not receive or hold the money. Money for the underlying purchase flows directly from you to the Merchant and never passes through Candyll. A Deal Pass is not, and never evidences, any payment to or by Candyll.

5.4 Applicable maximum pre-tax Deal price. Your Deal Pass shows the Candyll Group Price for your Deal — the Final Locked Price, payable to the Merchant at the store. If the Merchant tells Candyll that it is currently offering the same item or service in store at a lower price, Candyll may show that lower price on your Deal Pass instead, as the applicable maximum pre-tax Deal price — the most you may be asked to pay, before tax, for the described Deal. Only one price is ever shown: Candyll displays no comparison price, no percentage-off figure, and no savings figure, and the price shown is Merchant-provided information, not a verified payable amount, an amount paid, or any payment due from Candyll. You still pay the Merchant directly at the store (Section 5.1), and the Merchant must not charge you more than the lower publicly offered price.

6. How Redemption works

6.1 Scanning opens a short usage session — it never uses your Deal Pass. Redemption happens in person at the Merchant, within the Redemption Window. At the store, open the Candyll app and scan the Merchant's Candyll QR code displayed at the store. Scanning is a read-only check: the Platform verifies your eligibility — that you are a Final Confirmed Participant holding a valid, unredeemed Deal Pass within its Redemption Window — and opens a short-lived usage preparation session (its current length is shown in the app). Scanning alone never redeems, uses, or consumes a Deal Pass. If the session expires before you go further, your Deal Pass is untouched and remains available, and you can simply scan again.

6.2 Pressing "Use Deal Pass" is the use. Your Deal Pass is used only when you deliberately press "Use Deal Pass" at the counter during the usage preparation session. That press consumes the Deal Pass in a single, atomic, one-time step and marks it Redeemed; the app then shows a brief, time-limited confirmation screen you can show to staff. You then pay the Merchant directly at the Final Locked Price (Section 5). Candyll's role at Redemption is limited to verifying eligibility and recording the use; it does not process, collect, or hold any payment.

6.3 One-time use. A Deal Pass is valid for a single Redemption, for the person it was issued to. Once redeemed, it cannot be reused, restored, or redeemed again (subject only to a correction after review under Section 6.6, which works by reversal and replacement — never by reactivating a consumed Deal Pass).

6.4 Standard mode, optional Merchant verification modes, and fallback. By default, a recorded use is a customer-confirmed use: it records your own deliberate confirmation, and it is not a verification or statement by the Merchant. A Merchant may optionally enable a verification mode, in which case the app tells you what happens at the counter: Staff PIN (staff enter a short code on your screen within a short, time-limited window shown in the app), Merchant Confirm (staff approve the pending use from the Merchant's own dashboard), or Staff Scan (staff scan a code). If the Platform cannot complete verification at the store (for example, a connectivity problem or a Merchant device issue), the Merchant may confirm your Redemption through the fallback method the Platform provides, and any such action is recorded for audit. A recorded Redemption attempt does not, by itself, entitle you to redeem twice.

6.5 A recorded use is an eligibility record, never a payment record. A recorded use shows that a Deal Pass was used — nothing more. It is not proof of a purchase or of a payment, and Candyll never confirms, verifies, or represents that you paid the Merchant. Candyll records only that a Deal Pass was used, how the use was verified, and any usage-dispute status; it keeps no record of whether, how, or how much you paid the Merchant.

6.6 Problems with a recorded use. You may report a problem with a recorded use through the app or at customersupport@candyll.com, and a Merchant may report a recorded use it believes did not occur. A report does not undo a use by itself: only review by Candyll can reverse a recorded use. If a use is reversed, the consumed Deal Pass is marked disputed and, where you remain eligible, Candyll restores your position by issuing a replacement Deal Pass carrying the same Final Locked Price. Every reversal and correction is recorded and auditable. A Merchant's silence about a recorded use is not a verification, confirmation, or statement of any kind. Candyll's review does not determine whether an in-store payment occurred, whether the Merchant owes a refund, or the legal merits of the underlying purchase dispute.

7. Single use and expiry

7.1 A Deal Pass is valid for one Redemption only, within its Redemption Window, and is non-transferable — it may be redeemed only by the Customer it was issued to.

7.2 A Deal Pass expires at the end of its Redemption Window. After it expires or is redeemed, it cannot be reused, restored, reactivated, or extended, and it has no residual value (there was never any monetary value to begin with — Section 3). There are only two exceptions, and both work the same way — by issuing a replacement Deal Pass, or by extending the Redemption Window of a Deal Pass that has not been used, never by reactivating a consumed one:

  • (a) A correction after review under Section 6.6 — where a recorded use is reversed and, if you remain eligible, you are issued a replacement Deal Pass carrying the same Final Locked Price.
  • (b) A Merchant cancellation, or performance that was genuinely impossible. Where the Merchant cancelled the Deal or your booked appointment, or genuinely could not deliver it — including because of an event beyond the Merchant's reasonable control (Terms of Service, Section 36.3) — Candyll may restore your position by issuing a replacement Deal Pass for another available time for the same Deal, or by extending the Redemption Window of the affected Deal Pass. A replacement issued this way carries the same Final Locked Price and the same party size as the original: it corrects a failure that was not your fault, and is never a new, larger, or better Deal. This route applies to a Deal Pass that the Merchant's cancellation left unusable — never to one you have already used (Section 6.3).

Both exceptions are administered by Candyll after review and at Candyll's discretion. They are a correction of the record — not a benefit you can demand, and not something a Merchant can grant, withhold, or trade. A Deal Pass is restored or replaced at most once for the same underlying booking. Nothing in this Section gives a Deal Pass any monetary value, converts it into money, credit, or a refund, or makes it transferable or cashable: Section 3 applies to a replacement Deal Pass exactly as it applies to the original. A Merchant may not cancel repeatedly, or let a Deal Pass run out, in order to escape honouring it (Merchant Terms, Section 21.8); if that happens, tell us and we will look at it.

7.3 A Deal Pass may also end before its window closes if it is cancelled or revoked as described in Section 9 (for example, where the Merchant cancels the unlocked Deal, or in cases of fraud or abuse).

8. No-show — if you do not redeem

8.1 If you do not redeem a Deal Pass within its Redemption Window, the Deal Pass simply expires unused.

8.2 A no-show has no charge and no monetary penalty. You never paid Candyll, Candyll holds no funds, and there is nothing to forfeit — a Deal Pass has no monetary value to lose. Expiry of an unused Deal Pass is the entire consequence of a no-show at the Deal Pass level.

8.3 Repeated no-shows may affect the lightweight reliability limits described in the Terms of Service (for example, a temporary reduction in how many active Pledges you may hold, and short cooldowns). Those limits are not a charge, not a rating, and never suspend your account automatically; any account restriction beyond the automatic Pledge limits is decided by human review. Cancelling your Pledge before the deadline never counts as a no-show and never reduces your limit.

9. The Merchant must honour a valid Deal Pass

9.1 Unlocked = must be honoured. While a Deal Pass is valid and unredeemed within its Redemption Window, the Merchant must honour the Final Locked Price shown on it for the described Deal, even if fewer people ultimately visit than were Final Confirmed. This obligation is part of the Merchant Terms.

9.2 If a Merchant refuses a valid Deal Pass, or cancels an unlocked Deal, or fails to honour the Final Locked Price, that is a matter between you and the Merchant as the seller. Candyll does not owe you the price difference, a refund, or any payment, because Candyll is not the seller and holds no funds. Candyll may record the Merchant's conduct, may verify and provide the Redemption records it holds, and may apply consequences to the Merchant under the Merchant Terms, including repeat-violation consequences.

9.3 If a Merchant cancels an unlocked Deal for which you hold a Deal Pass, the Deal Pass is cancelled, we notify you with the reason the Merchant gave, and — because you paid nothing — there is nothing to refund. The cancellation is never treated as your no-show and never affects your reliability standing, and where it is the appropriate correction Candyll may restore your position by issuing a replacement Deal Pass for another available time for the same Deal, or by extending an affected Deal Pass, under Section 7.2(b). Any right you have in respect of the Merchant's conduct is preserved by the Terms of Service and applicable law.

10. No guarantee of a visit or sale

10.1 Joining a Deal, completing Final Confirmation, reaching Final Price Lock, or holding a Deal Pass does not oblige you to attend, and Candyll does not guarantee that any Deal Pass results in a visit or a completed purchase. A Deal Pass is a right you may choose to use, not a completed sale.

10.2 Equally, Candyll does not guarantee to the Merchant that any Final Confirmed Participant will attend or buy. The Merchant sets its threshold knowing this (see the Merchant Terms).

11. Fraud, abuse, and integrity

11.1 A Deal Pass is personal to you. You must not sell, trade, or commercialize a Deal Pass or a Redemption code, transfer it to anyone else, or attempt to redeem a Deal Pass that was not issued to you. Attempting to redeem an expired, cancelled, revoked, or already-redeemed Deal Pass, or misrepresenting a Deal Pass's status, is prohibited conduct under the Terms of Service.

11.2 Candyll may cancel or revoke a Deal Pass, decline a Redemption, or restrict Deal Pass features where it reasonably detects fraud, abuse, threshold manipulation, or a safety or legal concern, with fair, human-reviewed process under the Platform Access & Suspension Policy. Because a Deal Pass carries no money, cancelling or revoking one never takes funds from you.

12. Your rights under British Columbia law

12.1 Nothing in these Deal Pass Terms takes away any right you have under British Columbia consumer protection law in respect of your purchase from the Merchant, or delays it beyond what the law allows. Your purchase is a contract with the Merchant as the seller; statutory cancellation, refund, and supply rights apply to that contract and are honoured on their own legal timeline.

12.2 Because Candyll never sells you a Deal Pass, never charges you, and holds no funds, the statutory rules that apply to sold prepaid cards, stored value, or gift cards are not intended to apply to a Deal Pass (Section 3.4). Your consumer rights in respect of the underlying purchase are unaffected and run against the Merchant.

12.3 British Columbia's consumer-contract changes from August 1, 2026. British Columbia has amended its consumer protection legislation, and part of that reform applies to consumer contracts entered into or renewed on or after August 1, 2026. Where those requirements apply to a Deal you take part in, or a booking you confirm, on or after that date, they apply in addition to these Deal Pass Terms, and if anything here would give you less than the amended law requires, the law prevails. This does not change what a Deal Pass is: it is still never sold to you, carries no money, and is not a prepaid purchase card (Sections 3 and 12.2). This section does not classify any Deal or booking under the amended legislation (Terms of Service, Section 40.5; Slot Booking Terms, Section 9.3).

12.4 Candyll's own legal obligations are not disclaimed. Nothing in these Deal Pass Terms excludes, limits, or waives any obligation that applicable law imposes directly on Candyll for Candyll's own conduct — including Candyll's obligations under privacy law for the records it keeps about your Deal Passes, under the federal Competition Act for representations Candyll itself makes, under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation for messages Candyll sends, and under any accessibility law that applies to Candyll. Where the law imposes a non-waivable obligation on Candyll directly, that obligation prevails (this mirrors the Terms of Service).

13. Changes and contact

13.1 We may update these Deal Pass Terms as the Platform and the law evolve, with the version and effective date shown above and material-change notice as described in the Terms of Service. A change never rewrites a Deal Pass you have already redeemed.

13.2 Questions about a Deal Pass: customersupport@candyll.com. Legal notices: admin@candyll.com. See the Terms of Service for full contact channels.
